HELP CREATE A HOME THAT PUTS PEOPLE BACK ON THEIR FEET

Give caregivers of people with disabilities a moment of respite

Help us create a Home that puts people back on their feet!

6.5 million PLN… madness? To us, it’s a mission we are unwilling to give up, since human lives are at stake. In Stage 1, we are raising 1 700 000 PLN to bring the old tenement building into a state of a finished shell construction. We are facing to perform:

  • dismantlement and demolition works;
  • work to ensure safety and strengthening of the foundations;
  • masonry and strengthening of walls, construction of roof trusses and roofing.

The needs of caregivers for people with disabilities requiring constant care

Caregivers of people with disabilities who require constant support are silent heroes. In Poland, thousands of people—often alone—perform difficult work day after day: they feed, help with hygiene, watch over, and respond to every worrying sign. This is care that does not allow for weekends off or breaks. For many of them, every day is a huge physical and emotional burden. Without a moment’s rest, without a chance to catch their breath. In many municipalities, respite care is unavailable, severely limited, or requires waiting in long queues.

That is why we are building a “Home that gets people back on their feet” — a place where we will take over 24-hour care of bedridden patients for 14 days. This will give their caregivers what they need most today: rest, the opportunity to take care of necessary matters, and a moment to catch their breath and regain their strength. However, without your help, we will not be able to provide such real support to caregivers.

The Foundation for Polish Families, which carries the name of St. John Paul II, offers help to families experiencing crises and in danger of falling apart, that are struggling with addiction, parenting problems, poverty, disabilities.

The mission of our Foundation is to transform the difficult present situation of our Clients into a better future. The way we realize this mission is by offering a Daycare Center for children, providing therapeutic and integrative art workshops and developmental projects aimed at activation and education. The essence of our work lies in encouraging our Clients in changing themselves, and to implement that change in their immediate environment. For this reason, we support our Clients through the provision of non-material assistance.

The Foundation was established by a married couple, Eugeniusz and Dorota Fick, parents of six adult children, who have dedicated their lives to helping people in need.
